Risk-Directed Ambulatory Thromboprophylaxis in Lung and Gastrointestinal Cancers: The TARGET-TP Randomized Clinical Trial
CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: In this randomized clinical trial of individuals with lung and gastrointestinal cancers who were stratified by risk score according to thrombosis risk, risk-directed thromboprophylaxis reduced thromboembolism with a desirable number needed to treat, without safety concerns, and with reduced mortality. Individuals at low risk avoided unnecessary intervention. The findings suggest that biomarker-driven, risk-directed primary thromboprophylaxis is an appropriate approach in this population.TRIAL REGISTRATION: ANZCTR Identifier: ACTRN12618000811202.PMID:37733336 | DOI:10.1001/jamaoncol.2023.3634

Multiple GIST and pheochromocytoma - a rare association in neurofibromatosis type 1
We describe a case of coexistence of multiple gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) and pheochromocytoma in a 32-year-old patient with neurofibromatosis type 1. The coexistence of these two conditions in patients with this syndrome is extremely rare.PMID:37732354 | DOI:10.17235/reed.2023.9927/2023

Effectiveness and safety of Shenqi Fuzheng injection combined with platinum-based chemotherapy for treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: SFI combined with PBC for the treatment of advanced NSCLC improved the ORR, DCR, and quality of life, and reduced the incidence of myelosuppression and gastrointestinal adverse reactions. However, considering the limitations of existing evidence, further verification using high-quality RCTs is required.SYSTEMATIC REVIEW REGISTRATION: https://inplasy.com/inplasy-2022-7-0026, identifier INPLASY202270026.PMID:37731634 | PMC:PMC10507621 | DOI:10.3389/fonc.2023.1198768

Traumatic sigmoid colon rupture due to breast cancer metastasis: a case report
Clin J Gastroenterol. 2023 Sep 21. doi: 10.1007/s12328-023-01859-x. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe metastasis of breast cancer to the gastrointestinal tract is rare. Herein, we presented the case of an 85-year-old woman who had a history of invasive lobular carcinoma and experienced complete colon rupture due to relatively low-energy trauma. The patient underwent bilateral total mastectomy and axillary dissection following preoperative chemotherapy 6 years ago. She had a local recurrence 2 years after the surgery and underwent chemotherapy. Subsequently, the cancer metastasized to the thoracolumbar area and retroperiton...

Resection of orbital apex tumours in the medial orbit via four-handed endonasal and transcaruncular approaches
CONCLUSIONS: This report indicates that 4-handed endoscopic and transcaruncular approaches are useful for removal of an orbital apex tumour located in the medial orbit. Medial orbital wall reconstruction after tumour resection may be a better option for reducing the risk of postoperative enophthalmos and esotropia.PMID:37731331 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231204189
