Inhibition of heat shock protein 47 suppressed collagen production in Tenon's capsule fibroblasts
CONCLUSIONS: HSP47 siRNA inhibits the production of COLI in rat Tenon's fibroblasts, and may be the potential therapeutic method in bleb scarring after glaucoma filtration surgery.PMID:37724035 | DOI:10.5603/fhc.96514

Deep Learning Estimation of 10-2 Visual Field Map Based on Macular Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography Measurements
Glaucoma is a progressive disease associated with characteristic structural changes to the eye and loss of visual function.1 Early diagnosis and monitoring of disease progression are crucial to prevent significant loss of vision and blindness.1,2

Unleashing the potential of CRISPR multiplexing: Harnessing Cas12 and Cas13 for precise gene modulation in eye diseases
Vision Res. 2023 Sep 16;213:108317. doi: 10.1016/j.visres.2023.108317. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGene therapy is a flourishing field with the potential to revolutionize the treatment of genetic diseases. The emergence of CRISPR-Cas9 has significantly advanced targeted and efficient genome editing. Although CRISPR-Cas9 has demonstrated promising potential applications in various genetic disorders, it faces limitations in simultaneously targeting multiple genes. Novel CRISPR systems, such as Cas12 and Cas13, have been developed to overcome these challenges, enabling multiplexing and providing unique advantages. Cas13, in...

Systemic immuno-inflammatory index in patients with pseudoexfoliation syndrome and pseudoexfoliative glaucoma
CONCLUSIONS: In PEXS patients, both SII and NLR were significantly higher, albeit in a small group of patients, and SII may be a helpful and supportive parameter for NLR in risk estimation in these patients. There was a statistically significant difference only in NLR in patients with PEXG when compared with the control group. However, these results need to be supported by future longitudinal and larger studies to identify any possible link between hematological inflammatory markers and pseudoexfoliation.PMID:37720205 | PMC:PMC10504835 | DOI:10.1177/25158414231197072

Development of mucoadhesive Timolol loaded chitosan-nanocomposite to treat glaucoma
Int J Biol Macromol. 2023 Sep 14:126917. doi: 10.1016/j.ijbiomac.2023.126917. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTimolol Maleate is an aqueous soluble β-blocker antiglaucoma drug used to suppress intraocular pressure. Several commercially available ocular formulations are not effective in delivering to the target site due to their water-soluble property and low mucoadhesiveness. Hence, there is a requirement for a highly mucoadhesive drug-loaded nanocomposite to suppress intraocular pressure with enhanced bioavailability. Herein, we have prepared a mucoadhesive Timolol-loaded graphene quantum dot-chitosan-nanocomposite to trea...

The continuous treatment of anterior segment open globe injury: an eye injury vitrectomy study
CONCLUSIONS: Initiating CST before fibrosis or scar formation might improve the prognosis of open AS injury, which was preferable to natural wound healing after wound repair.PMID:37711825 | PMC:PMC10498217 | DOI:10.21037/qims-23-645
