Clinical efficacy of sclerotonyxis for acute angle-closure glaucoma with persistent high intraocular pressure
CONCLUSIONS: Sclerotonyxis can rapidly lower IOP, release the pupillary blockage, reconstruct the anterior chamber, and reduce systemic complications caused by long-term high-dose antiglaucoma drugs. Thus, it normalizes the IOP and provides a safe operating space for stage II surgery, effectively reducing complications in patients in a persistent high IOP state.PMID:37667925 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33400

Validity of a novel optical coherence tomography angiography flow index in a cohort of primary open angle glaucoma
Vascular mechanisms are implicated in many ocular diseases. Therefore, different vascular imaging modalities are used in management of such conditions. Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) has high ...

Comparison of intraocular pressure measurements obtained by icare pro tonometer, non-contact tonometer and Goldmann applanation tonometer in healthy individuals
CONCLUSION: In this study, IOP was measured slightly lower with NCT than GAT, but it was about 1mmHg higher with IRT than GAT on average. All three devices appeared to be affected by CCT, with NCT being the most affected in this regard. The three instruments can be used for routine inspection and screening. However, considering the differences in the measurements obtained by using them, it is clear that following up IOP measurements with GAT measurements is beneficial in advanced glaucoma patients.PMID:37666735 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfo.2023.01.042

Improvement of objective ocular redness measured with Keratograph 5M in glaucoma patients after instilling brimonidine drops
CONCLUSION: A significant reduction of conjunctival hyperemia was objectively found in glaucoma patients under topical hypotensive treatment before and after brimonidine instillation. Its fast and long-lasting effect may be useful preoperatively in glaucoma patients to reduce intraoperative bleeding and associated complications.PMID:37661653 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231199122

Comment on: Long-term Impact of Immediate Versus Delayed Treatment of Early Glaucoma: Results From the Early Manifest Glaucoma Trial
We read the study by Heijl et al.,1 in which they assessed the long-term visual outcomes of immediate versus delayed treatment in the two arms of Early Manifest Glaucoma Trial. They concluded that delaying treatment did not result in serious penalties in terms of glaucoma-induced visual impairment between the two groups (immediate treatment and no initial treatment).1
